M./Germany&nbsp;+1 transforms the former Mainova Hall in Frankfurt into a space of encounter and artistic hospitality for two weeks.&nbsp;From video game essays to painting, sound and video installations, and dance performances, more than 20 international artists from Frankfurt, Berlin, London, New York, Seoul, and Beijing will transform the former Mainova Hall at Stiftstraße 30 in Frankfurt into a temporary art laboratory. For two weeks, the space becomes a site of hospitality, encounter, and artistic experimentation. Initiated by artist and curator Olga Ulmann together with Mison Schreff and Martin Winkler, and supported by&nbsp;Rock Capital Group, which is currently redeveloping the building, the project translates the idea of hospitality into artistic practice.Each invited artist brings a second artist — another voice, another perspective — forming collaborative duos that span painting, sculpture, sound, performance, and digital media. Glover’s sculpture, The Planet Mercury Sings Like a Crystal Goblet, engages directly with Schwendinger’s sound performance The Listening Body, performed on a large symphonic gong. The resonant vibrations of Schwendinger’s sonic environment animate Glover’s form, allowing the sculpture to respond physically and conceptually to sound. within the gardens of QBHQ, a project space situated in Hackney, London. This site-responsive installation continues his ongoing exploration of material ecologies and postcolonial narratives through the recurring use of eucalyptus bark—a material that has become emblematic within his practice. Originating from Australia, the eucalyptus tree is known for its distinctive exfoliating bark, which it sheds cyclically throughout its life span. This natural process of renewal, decay, and transformation resonates deeply with Goswin’s conceptual interests, particularly in relation to themes of impermanence, regeneration, and the layered temporality of organic matter. Simultaneously, the artist engages critically with the tree’s colonial legacy. Widely exported and introduced into non-native landscapes during imperial expansion, eucalyptus has often disrupted local ecologies—its high water consumption contributing to drought conditions and soil degradation. Goswin harnesses these problematic histories, embedding them within his sculptural language to interrogate the environmental and geopolitical consequences of displacement and forced adaptation. In this new iteration, the eucalyptus functions both materially and symbolically—at once a tactile remnant of natural cycles and a charged signifier of colonial imposition. Between them spreads a dense field of hardened hibiscus candy, its surface both seductive and resistant. Across the mirror’s skin, the phrase “In Light Of Recent Events” is inscribed in red and underlined, hovering between declaration and residue. Exploring the fun side of contemporary arts, we will create an immersive, free halloween inspired environment to see if art can engage more immediately. The main focus of the exhibition is to think about how we can explore contemporary art in a more accessible, playful, and appealing way. The show looks beyond Halloween and Horror as a genre and uses it as a tool to explore the boundaries of the white cube space and contemporary art by not conforming and making it more accessible to the community of South London that we as the curators and artists feel part of. Ghost Show: The Haunted House seeks to subvert the gallery space and invites a fresh perspective to viewing art through a spoof art show vs spoof haunted house. The tension between these 2 tropes comment in a playful and humorous way on both the art sphere and the eeriness of Halloween. By doing so, we hope that it appeals to the imagination of the young and local community, encouraging them to enter and contribute to art spaces more regularly. The aim is to encourage people to engage with art, think more creatively about the world and be more accepting of diversity. We will run 5 artist-led community workshops to allow communities (SENS, primary schools and locals) to contribute to the Haunted House, including: drawing, collage, performance, sound, storytelling peripheries of science and knowledge.&nbsp; A field where questions of explainability and plausibility instantly arise and are often left unanswered. Schwendinger offers us a reading of a world where possible responses can perhaps be seen, felt and heard but not necessarily explained. It is in this grey zone, a liminal space, that today’s world needs to be navigated and where separation and dualisms shall ideally turn into the possibilities of inclusion. A wishful thought perhaps, but one that Schwendinger draws from. RADICAL EMPATHY is an immersive moment that invites contemplation of the World Condition. Four large photographic prints made from digital files that could be seen as propaganda for change. In the centre is the video work Occurring Glade (Onkey/Donkey). This film piece was produced on a smart phone and is displayed using an analogue monitor. It portraits virtual occurrences of the non-physical in moving and evolving shapes and overlays it with excerpts of archival and filmed clips. This technique highlights both the drama and the absurdity of our world. It is also in this threshold that today’s world is defined, negotiated and understood. The shift from the physical to the digital realm emphasises a need for the realisation of the acerbities of binary and normative individualism. RADICAL EMPATHY is an urgent call for immediate de-programming. I Don't Want It Anymore is a an immersive moment, created in collaboration with electronic producer Quenum, who, through his long friendship with the artist is able to create relating soundspheres.&nbsp; A reworked painting by the astronomer Charles Piazzi Smyht depicts a romantic representation of man vis-à-vis the universe, a romanticised individualism that feeds off of the separation from a universal continuum.
